In February 1999, Stephanie Pepper, a Louisiana Tech University Professor, married David Sims, an accountant, ten years her senior. Two years into their marriage, David and Stephanie were growing apart. In November 2002, Stephanie and her friend, Ginger Steward, visited a local bar where Stephanie met Wayne Guidry, Jr. who claimed to be a professional golfer spending some time in the area hunting during the off season. Less than a week after Stephanie met Guidry, she told David she wanted to separate, and five weeks after the affair began, Stephanie disappeared. With the help of Erik Dufrene, a childhood friend of Wayne Guidry and Guidry?s father, Stephanie?s body was found in the Jackson Bienville Management Preserve. Guidry was arrested, tried and found guilty of the murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
