Great interview with @shadmoss AKA #BowWow today on the #TheGrioLIVE. I remember wanting braids when I was young just because Bow had braids. Go figure! Check him out in Season 2 of #guhhatl tonight on @wetv

“The idea of me talking to him was playing in my head for so long.” Shad went on to tell the production crew for #GUHHATL that he wanted to film meeting his dad, but that wasn’t the only reason he was going to do it. “I was going to do it anyways, because I need it for my life,” Shad said. He continued, “I need to clear my life.”  He said that's what motivated him to take the steps towards forgiveness, the fact that he is a father himself.

“I just wanted him to know I don’t hate him. I outgrew that part. Once I had a kid and I’ve experienced some things with me and my daughter’s mom and how we rock; I kind of understood why he might have ran out or why he wasn’t around or why he left. There are reasons. My father was an alcoholic, heavy. I didn’t want to be around him when I was young, and of course, my career took me to other places,” he explained.

Shad added that the emotional scene last season was real because he was truly upset while waiting on his father to show up.  When he finally did show up, Shad says despite the healing conversation, he prefers to keep their distant relationship. He says the conversation was really just to let his father know he didn’t hate him. “Even to this day, he reaches out, but we still don’t talk. I’m cool,” said Shad. He continued, “I don’t have time to be getting to know him. I’m alright.”

What brought him to this moment of clarity? Shad summed it up with one word, “life.” He added, “Life’s going to tell you when it’s time, you’ll feel it. The older you get, the more mature and wiser you become.”

“I’m glad that I did it,” he said.

WE are too! WE can’t wait to see what’s next for Shad and the rest of the #GUHHATL crew when Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta airs Thursdays at 9|8c.
